Job Summary
The SVP, Group Account Director is the senior executive overseeing a portfolio of brands and driving long-term client, business, and strategic success. This role acts as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, sets the strategic direction for complex portfolios, and ensures the agency delivers integrated, high-impact solutions that advance client and enterprise goals.
The SVP shapes growth strategy, protects financial performance, elevates strategic thinking across teams, and influences agency direction. This leader ensures the work is smart, connected, and aligned to client ambitions while stewarding multimillion-dollar relationships.
Responsibilities
Executive Strategic Leadership
Set the strategic vision for a portfolio of brands, guiding long-term planning and integrated decision-making.
Deliver senior counsel to VP/C-suite client partners on brand, business, and portfolio strategy.
Provide direction and oversight for strategic narratives, positioning, and integrated program design.
Lead enterprise-level opportunity identification, pitch strategy, and growth planning.
Client Partnership & Influence
Serve as executive relationship owner, maintaining trusted partnerships with senior clients.
Anticipate needs, shape business priorities, and drive alignment across complex stakeholder groups.
Resolve escalated issues efficiently with clear, senior-level judgment.
Ensure a unified client experience across creative, strategy, medical, and delivery teams.
Business Growth & Financial Stewardship
Oversee an $8M+ portfolio and ensure strong topline, margin, and forecast performance.
Establish and manage fiscal goals across brands; partner with finance to drive accuracy and rigor.
Identify growth opportunities within existing businesses and guide pursuit strategy for new opportunities.
Shape client investment strategies, staffing models, and operating structures that strengthen profitability.
Cross-Functional & Organizational Leadership
Partner with senior leaders across functions to align on delivery, operating models, and capability development.
Influence cross-vertical decisions, resource allocation, and enterprise planning.
Serve as a senior voice in agency discussions, contributing to organizational strategy and priorities.
Operational Excellence
Ensure operational systems, forecasting discipline, and delivery models support consistent, high-quality execution.
Champion efficient ways of working, reducing friction and enabling scale across brands.
Proactively identify and resolve structural issues affecting delivery, financials, or client satisfaction.
Talent Leadership
Provide guidance and oversight to senior account leads on priority accounts.
Set expectations and standards for performance, communication, and strategic quality.
Model executive behaviors and support leadership readiness without deep people-management focus.
Core Expertise & Skills
12–15+ years in advertising, marketing, or healthcare communications.
Deep experience leading large, complex portfolios within healthcare/pharma.
Strong strategic, commercial, and communication acumen.
Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and operate at an enterprise level.
Demonstrated financial leadership across multimillion-dollar books of business.
Skilled at simplifying complexity and driving clarity across teams and clients.
